Shorts Movie – Unfortunately It Wasn’t Short Enough

Posted by panaura on 25th August 2009

shortsThis year has been full of funny, exciting, leave-the-theatre-with-a-smile-on-your-face kids movies: Hotel For Dogs, Coraline, Hannah Montana, and Harry Potter 6…just to name a few. Unfortunately Shorts (starring Jimmy Bennett) really fell short.

The movie was filmed in five parts — called shorts — kind of like a five act play. Only this film, told the story completely out of order. The writers were trying something new. But it just didn’t work. While Shorts was intended for a kid audience, it was WAY too silly and ridiculous for parents to enjoy. It didn’t offer any adult humor.

Aliens in the Attic

Posted by panaura on 10th August 2009

Aliens in the AtticI’m not going to lie, Aliens in the Attic looked a little silly in the previews. And it definitely is silly, but in a good way. It has more funny parts than I can list, particularly those when the cocky boyfriend, Ricky, is under the aliens’ control. This movie embodies the power of kids and how resourceful they can be. They can defeat of team of aliens without their parents even knowing about the invasion. That’s impressive stuff.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Was Worth the Wait

Posted by panaura on 16th July 2009

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood PrinceWhen Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight knocked Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince out of it’s November 2008 release slot, it was a devastating blow. But I must admit, the film was worth the wait. Harry Potter 6 was unlike all the other movies…in a very good way. It didn’t feel rushed, squeeze, condensed or compounded. It was pure perfection. The teenage-turned-20-something cast has evolved, especially the terrific trio. And best of all, love is in the air.

He's Just Not That Into You

Posted by Kidzworld on 18th June 2009

Recently I saw an awesome movie called “He’s Just Not That into You”, which is a romantic-comedy. It’s about nine individuals whose love lives are interconnected and it stars Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore and Scarlet Johansson.

Although, it got an average rating on Hollywood websites, I thought it was really amazing. I loved how crazy and strange all the characters were and in my opinion, everyone’s performance was brilliant.

One of the parts in the movie that I found hilarious was at the beginning, when the narrator is talking about, how women don’t like to acknowledge that maybe the guy is just not into them. They make excuses to each other and never admit or accept the fact that maybe he’s not interested. They just tell one another that he does like them, but either he’s confused or is shy or what so ever.

Anyhow, why I’m talking about this film is because it had a really weird impact on me. It practically brainwashed me. I started thinking that men are selfish and don’t care about anyone but themselves for almost 3 days. I was rude to my brothers and all my male friends; they all thought something was wrong with me. But later on I realized and told myself that it’s just a movie, not all men are the same. And that everybody has their own personality traits. So, I recommend this movie to everyone out there, who wants to have a fun time indoor on a rainy night.

NOTE: This is just something I wrote for my English exam. I need some more time to write about Kuwait as I am a bit busy with things at the moment but, don’t worry, I’ll post it soon. I hope you guys don’t mind. Anyways, keep reading my blogs.

Take care and always enjoy life.

With love,
Asmi.
